Honestly, since we are in Southern California, rain is usually the least of our worries! But just in case we get a surprise downpour, or if it gets scorching hot outside, I do require a viable backup plan to protect the integrity of the buttercream and preserve my handcrafted wooden cart.
Ideally, all outdoor bookings should have an indoor or fully covered, climate-controlled space we can pivot to. If rain is in the forecast or temperatures are set to exceed 85°F, we will make the collaborative call to move to your backup indoor space prior to my arrival.
If your venue or backyard is 100% outdoors and doesn't have an indoor alternative, don't worry, we just need to ensure the station has adequate structural coverage! In that scenario, the client must provide a professional pop-up canopy tent or marquee structure. This keeps the cart completely dry from a rare SoCal sprinkle and safely shaded from intense, cake-melting heat.
Because water can warp the custom woodwork and ruin the station, I am unable to set up in direct rain. If unexpected weather hits during an outdoor service and no adequate overhead shelter or indoor alternative is available, I will have to pause service immediately to pack down the cart to prevent damage, and contracted fees remain non-refundable. Securing that solid "Plan B" space or tenting layout beforehand ensures your live cake bar experience goes off without a hitch!
